Berlin
Berlin is the capital city of Germany and is located in the northeast region of the country. It has a population of over three million people and is the largest city in Germany.
Berlin is the
second largest city in Europe behind London. The city lies in the lowlands about seventy kilometers from Poland, along the Spree River, and has a temperate climate.
There are many famous and historic landmarks in and around Berlin, including the famous Brandenburg gate. The city is also one of the major cultural centers of Europe and is home to more than four hundred art galleries and one hundred fifty museums.
Berlin has one of the most exciting and varied nightlife scenes in Europe. At the end of the twentieth century, Berlin’s club scene became the premier destination in Europe and after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, many old buildings in East Berlin got renovated and turned into more nightclubs. Techno clubs and discos have do-
minated much of the scene. It was also formerly a haven for punk and counterculture clubs, but has since opened up to a wide variety of live music and dance venues.
