
Lisbon is located to the right of the Tagus River in the center of Portugal. It is on the Atlantic Ocean coast where the Tagus River meets the Atlantic Ocean. It is the most western city in continental Europe. It is located approximately 300 km from the Algarve that lies to the south and 400 km from the border of Spain to the north.
Lisbon covers an area of 84 square kilometers or 33 square miles. The western area of the city mostly consists the Monsanto Forest Park, which is one of Europe’s largest urban parks with an approximate area of 10 square kilometers or 4 square miles.
Lisbon has a very exciting nightlife with many restaurants, bars, cafés, jazz bars, and dance clubs for every audience. The Bairro Alto quarter is the center of Lisbon’s bar scene and where most of the nightlife excitement occurs. Many tourists like the hip Bedroom and laid-back Clube da Esquina. Most venues close between 2AM and 4AM and many people relocate down to the docks of the district of Santos and Alcântara, which have many popular clubs and bars. Many venues stay open until dawn and the docks are a beautiful setting to watch the sunrise. Lux is the city’s most stylish club and is often referred to as the best-designed club in Europe.
Classical music is available at venues such as Culturgest and Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. There are many old theaters and concert venues such as São Carlos Theater and Atlantic Pavillion.
