Madrid offers a diverse geographical footprint, with both heavily wooded, soaring mountains and low lying plains. Much of the area supports a wide range of wildlife, some of which is known only to the Madrid area.
And for human "wildlife", the city doesn’t lack in its offerings. Madrid is, quite literally, a city that never sleeps, offering entertainment possibilities into the wee hours of the morning.
In addition to the typical restaurant experience, bars, cafeterias, and pubs are plentiful, and most stay open until midnight or later, serving drinks and, in most cases, food to fuel your night time activities.
For dinner and a show, seek out Madrid’s popular tablaos, typically small establishments which offer flamenco entertainment in addition to food or drink. One of the best known flamenco bars in Madrid is Corral de la Moreria.
Discotecas and nightclubs generally observe a dress code, so dress stylishly to be admitted. For the 14- to 18-year-old crowd, choose one of the city’s discotecas light, generally open from 7 pm until 10 pm and serving this younger crowd.
Like many major cities, Madrid comprises a number of local areas, some of which are particularly known for their nightlife. These include the Arguelles area, which draws largely from the university crowd; the Alonso Martinez area, offering a large number of tapas bars, nightclubs, and restaurants; the Huertas area, with cafeterias, wine bars, and restaurants; and the Malasana area, which in addition to pubs and restaurants is known for its widely varying venue of live entertainment.
